How to correct an activity-duration estimate in CiteSilo
Correct an activity estimate when you have a specific reason to think it misrepresents the recorded interval. Do not adjust numbers simply to make a daily total look complete.
CiteSilo’s correction control is deliberately limited to the activity’s recorded interval. It cannot create missing history outside that interval.
Review the interval first
Open Today, find Projects and activity, and enable Show estimated activity duration if needed. Inspect the activity, its project tag and any useful retained source.
Ask what makes the estimate questionable. You may have been reading without input, left a window open while doing something else, or paused work partway through the interval.
A surprising number alone is not enough to identify the right correction. Use the evidence and your own recollection, and keep uncertainty visible.
Enter a bounded correction
Edit the duration in minutes. The app limits the correction to the recorded interval, and zero is allowed.
A zero can be appropriate when an activity should contribute no duration to the project total. It does not necessarily mean the underlying activity record was false; it means you do not want to count time from that interval.
If the work extended beyond what was recorded, maintain that additional time in your normal work records. Do not stretch another activity to compensate for the missing period.
Check the project total
Project totals include manual corrections. Review the total after the edit to make sure the activity belongs to the intended project and the correction is sensible.
This remains an estimate with manual input. It does not become an approved timesheet or verified billable record because a person edited it.
For client billing, use the agreement and recordkeeping process that actually govern the work.
Know which outputs do not change
Correcting a project activity duration does not recalculate existing AI reports or attention statistics. Those outputs retain their own original calculations.
This can produce different-looking numbers in different views. Before treating that as a contradiction, check what each view measures and whether it includes corrections.
Project tags and corrections stay local and are not added to AI prompts.
Reset when you want the original estimate
Reset estimate removes the manual correction and returns to the app’s calculated estimate. It does not recover a more precise measurement that was never recorded.
If the original estimate remains uncertain, you can leave duration display off and use the source and project context without a number.
Erasing the day removes the activity annotations, so do not use deletion as a way to hide a small estimate problem. Review and correct the specific record instead.
For the underlying assumptions, read what estimated activity duration means. For broader organization, see project tags.
