Windows beta

The Windows beta supports local document search, recorded work history and daily or weekly reports. Add only the folders you want indexed and review capture settings before starting.

Current Windows releases are unsigned. Ask us to confirm the correct release if you are unsure about a download. Do not bypass a security warning for an installer you cannot verify.

macOS beta status

The macOS build workflow targets both Intel and Apple Silicon. The app includes permission guidance and links to the relevant System Settings panes.

Real-device validation and signing remain outstanding for version 0.1.7. Building a macOS package does not establish that every feature works on both architectures. Contact us with your Mac model and macOS version before relying on the beta for everyday work.

Screen capture and activity features depend on the appropriate macOS permissions. Review the permissions requested by the app, and enable only the capture features you want to use.

Do I need a cloud AI key?

Fresh version 0.1.7 installations start in Local mode. File search, local screen-text search, counted reports and source excerpts do not require a cloud API key. AI-written summaries and interpretive answers need an optional cloud provider or a separately installed compatible Ollama model.

Cloud provider charges are separate from free CiteSilo beta access. Read the local and cloud processing details.

Your first session

  1. Request access using the email signup on the homepage.
  2. Follow the access instructions for your system. Confirm the build and any platform limitations.
  3. Open Settings, check Local mode and review excluded apps, title keywords and capture options.
  4. Add a folder containing non-sensitive documents you want to search.
  5. Try a phrase from a document. If you enable activity capture, review that recorded period and its sources afterward.

The beta cannot recover activity from before it was recorded. Exact behavior also depends on the files, permissions and settings on your computer.
