Why your daily work report may be empty or incomplete

An empty report can mean there is no usable activity for the selected day. An incomplete report can also reflect excluded work, short sessions, missing sources or a generation problem.

Check the input before changing the reporting settings.

Confirm the day and the machine

Open the date you intended to review and inspect the recorded activity. Work performed on another computer is not automatically part of this local history.

If the activity list is empty, start with recording state. Was CiteSilo running? Was tracking paused? Was the relevant application excluded?

Installing the app or enabling capture after the work happened cannot recreate the earlier activity.

Read the error as a clue

The current beta distinguishes no recorded activity from sessions that were not long enough to report on. It can also report an operating-system capture problem.

Those conditions require different responses. A cloud key will not fix a day with no recorded events. Increasing retention will not bring back a screen that was never captured.

Keep the exact error text when investigating, but avoid sharing private source content or credentials in a support message.

Check permissions with a harmless example

Review the app’s capture status and relevant operating-system permissions. On macOS, Settings exposes permission status and links to the corresponding System Settings areas.

Use a non-sensitive test document to check whether new activity and expected sources appear. Do not use private material to diagnose a recording setup.

The macOS beta still requires real-device validation across its builds and permissions; a build succeeding is not proof that every capture workflow works on every Mac.

Separate missing images from missing activity

A report can have activity context without every original screenshot. Capture settings and retention determine which sources are available.

Inspect the sources that remain before drawing conclusions. A missing image does not necessarily mean the whole activity was absent, but it limits what you can verify visually.

If the record is sparse, write a manual note about additional work and label it as recollection.

Check the provider only when generation is the issue

Local mode can produce counted reports without a cloud key. An optional cloud provider or Ollama model adds generated interpretation and can introduce its own availability or configuration errors.

If generation is already running, wait for its outcome rather than starting repeated requests. Check the selected provider and the actual failure before changing unrelated settings.

Once the basic workflow works, compare the report with a small known day. The aim is a useful account of available evidence, not a claim that every part of the day was captured.

Read daily reports without a cloud key and choosing recording settings for a controlled starting point.
